Gift of honour for Kiel Week

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Kiel Week, Heinke Böhnert presented the Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Franziska Giffey, Prime Minister Daniel Günther and the President of the State Parliament, Klaus Schlie, with an individually designed, unique sailing picture as a gift of honour at the opening ceremony in Kiel’s Ratsaal.

with featured artist Heinke Böhnert who is the artist in residence this summer.

Select Böhnert artwork is installed in the Mansion Lobby, Sunset Room,

Terrace Bar, Ocean Room and all paintings are available for sale through Castle Hill.

Located on a forty-acre peninsula at the west end of Newport’s famous Ocean Drive,

Castle Hill Inn, offers guest the romance, privacy. and extraordinary beauty of a secluded oceanfront resort. Featuring a fabulously restored Victorian mansion, quaint Harbor Houses and exceptionally well appointed Beach House lodging rooms snuggled along the coastline, Castle Hill provides a captivating and soothing retreat.

In 2008, Castle Hill Inn became the first Rhode Island property to be invited into the prestigious Relais & Chateaux family. Widely regarded as the foremost authority on luxury hospitality, Relais & Chateaux, recognizes hotels that combine one-of-a-kind accommodations with exceptional cuisine.

Through the integration of used sails in her maritime art, Heinke Böhnert created her individual genre, which has earned her international recognition. The Hamburg based artist is a sailor to her core, growing up amongst tiny dinghies and larger yachts. She realized her passion for yachting as she sailed the Alster, Elbe and numerous oceans throughout the world. Böhnert combines this love for sailboats, regatta scenes and the shades of the ocean in her dynamic, intensive and often large-scale paintings. Her pieces are characterized by thick layers of paint, which give her compositions their unique structure and variety of color. Through her depictions, Heinke Böhnert has successfully modernized classical marine painting and given new, artistic focus to high tech yacht racing. One of her favored motives is yachts beginning a race, in which she artistically embeds old sails, enabling the race to feel tangible. A number of her recent compositions depict yachts sailing under spinnaker, with Heinke’s particular dynamic, powerful, at times geometric style giving her pieces a distinct radiance. Böhnert, who was previously active in the Olympic 470 class, finds new inspiration for her artworks on board her sailboat or in regattas. Her sporty, fast-paced paintings are frequently given as prizes at international regatta events. Atelier Newport, will feature Heinke Bohnert’s artwork during the

12 Metre World Championship events this July in Newport.

Charity Kunstauktion charity art auction for children

Twenty stelas, by artists including Udo Lindenberg, Otto Waalkes, Frank Zander and myself, were auctioned here from 19 March to 1 April 2015. The opening event started on breakfast television and was then moderated by Bettina Tietjen in Hamburg’s Europa Passage. Almost 50,000 euros were donated to the Budnianer Hilfe charity from the event. A big thank you to Walentowski Art Gallery, Milka and Budnikowsky for making everything run so smoothly.
